American Idol Season 9 Elimination Show Results - March 4, 2010

American Idol Season 9 has been pretty predictable, so far.  So, when Ryan Seacrest opened the show by saying "Drama is about to unfold on this stage." he got my attention.   Over 27 million votes were cast and the top 20 was whittled down to the top 16.

The show, as usual started out with the whole ensemble doing a number.  Tonight is was Black Eyed Peas "I Got a Feeling".  At first I thought it was kind of cool, the way they electronically enhanced their voices.  Then I couldn't help but wonder if, with all the pitch problems this season, it was done on purpose.

First the guys were given their statuses.  First up was Tim Urban.  He was told he was safe.  This Brady Bunch look-alike was who I would have sent home, had it been up to me.  My opinion:  Joe Munoz should still be there. John Park, who redeemed himself with this week's performance was the first to be sent home.  Jermaine, predictably was also sent home.

Danny Gokey came on stage to push his new album and tour.  Of course, he was excellent.  When you watch him perform it is clear he has "it".

Next the girls were seated in two rows to get their news.  Crystal Bowersox, as expected, was safe and allowed to be seated.  She is another with that "it" factor, I think.  I wondered if DiDi would be going home, but she too, was safe.  Going home for the ladies was the teen, Haeley, and Michelle Delamor.  I was expecting Haeley, but Michelle was a surprise to me.  I thought Lacey would get the boot.

Ellen has been one of this season's biggest surprises, in my opinion.  At first, I wasn't sure she would be a good judge and in her first couple appearances seemed in it more for the laugh than to give a critique.  But, she has added some comic relief to some tense moments and may be just what American Idol needed.

Next week 16 hopeful American Idols will take the stage.  Who do you think will be the next American Idol?

I watched idol for the first time this season last night and was surprised at the lack of quality of the talent compared to prior years.
