The Sing Off Finale Results - The Winner is Nota!

I knew it was a possibility, but I didn't see it happening.  Nota beat out the Beelzebubs to be the champion a cappella singing group in the country.  Monday night, when Nota was called out by Nick Lachey the volume of the fan's cheers was louder than for the Bubs or Voices of Lee and I still didn't think Nota would win the big prize.

I don't know if the judges or producers had a vote and if so, how much weight it carried.  If they did, I can see where the money making potential is much greater with Nota, simply because a boy band is going to sell more than a college choral group, no matter how talented.  The Beelzebubs are patterned after the well known a cappella group Straight No Chaser and the marketing options are probably limited.

Don't get me wrong…Nota was very good, but I think the Bubs were better. The Bubs have the flavor of Straight No Chaser.  Nota has the boy band thing going on but with a Latino flair; something that is probably harder to resist for the young ladies.

Voices of Lee didn't even have a chance in my opinion.  They are pretty good, but not in the same league as the Bubs or Nota.

So, it is over for 2009.  Will there be a Sing Off 2010? I have found a blurb online that hints of a "next season", but can't find any confirmation.  If you hear something, let me know!  In the meantime, doesn't American Idol start up again in a couple weeks?
