I think most assume Adam Lambert will be this year's American Idol, but that didn't stop Simon from sending out a warning. Vote! He warns that just assuming Adam will be there next week won't make it so, the public has to vote for him. Maybe that is how he ended up in the bottom three recently. On to the highlights of tonight's 300th show.
Each contestant sang two songs; one, a judge's choice, the other the singer's choice. The order was Danny, Kris, Adam, then the same order for their second song.
Paula selected Dance, Little Sister for Danny and he performed well. Exactly what you expect from Danny; a great performance with some fuzz on the vocals. Simon didn't like Danny's attempt at dancing, but then, to quote Simon...this is a singing competition.
Kris sang Apologize selected by Randy and Kara. As you might expect, none of the judges was thrilled with the performance.
Adam came out sans eye makeup to sing One by U2. Bono personally called Simon to give permission to use the song. Without makeup, Adam is easier to listen to. You find yourself paying more attention to his vocals, rather than his sinister eyes.
Next round Danny sang You Are So Beautiful. It was a beautiful, soulful rendition of the song and Simon commented his perfomance was a "vocal master class".
Kris. Wow! Kris came out with his acoustic guitar and nailed his performance of Heartless. Randy thought it was better than Kanye's version. Simon commented he had written Kris off until this performance. Now Kris may be back in the running.
Crying was Adam's song of choice. I thought there were a few pitchy places, but all in all, the song showed off his incredible range and talent. The judges love Adam and want him in the final two.
Who are you voting for? Does Kris deserve to stay? Was Kris better than Danny? Could there be a major upset after tonight's vote? Is Adam the next American Idol? Who will be the final two?
Tonight's show ran 3 minutes over an hour. If you are recording tomorrow night's elimination, my advice is to set your DVR or TiVo to record a little longer than the show is slated to air...you don't want to miss this one!
