American Idol Season 8 - May 6 - Elimination Results - Allison Goes Home!

I could spend some time telling you about the performances of No Doubt, Paula Abdul, and Daughtry, but I don't think that is what anyone cares about right now.
After a vote of over 64 million, the highest number of votes ever cast on American Idol, except for a finale, Allison was sent packing. Here's how it played out over the hour.
Instead of stools for the bottom three, the stools were set in place for the top three. The results were announced in random order. The first one asked to have a seat was Kris. I was surprised, as was Kris, I think.
Adam was the second contestant told to have a seat, leaving Danny and Allison to sweat it out.
Next, Danny was told he was safe and Allison sang for her last time on the American Idol stage.
When Kris was told he was safe, I expected Danny to be sent home.
As happy as I am that Danny is still there, I am saddened to see Allison go home. I didn't realize how much until it was announced.
Before next week's show, the top three will be heading to their hometowns for the traditional homecoming show.
Before Daughtry took the stage, he was asked if he still remembers the shocking results a few years ago that sent him home. He was predicted to win it all, but was sent home weeks before the finale. Look at his career, triple platinum on his first album with a second being released in July.
Allison, I wish you well. You will have an album out and I believe you will be successful. I applaud your achievements and your gumption.
Now, next week...any predictions?

Top-level comments on this article: (3 total)I think Kris is being kept in large part due to his physical appearance. The teenage and young women in their early 20's demographic gave him most of his votes. His talent pales in comparison to Allison's. Hopefully, America will get it right in the semis and send Danny and Adam through. The way voting is trending, that seems to be the case. Kris is a force to be reckoned with, but I think Danny just has too much of a following. He has all of the older voters and a lot of the younger ones. It was inevitably going to be Danny and Adam, but Allison deserved to make the Top 3. Kris and Adam would not make for an interesting final; Danny and Adam would.Greg, I agree with you...that Kris' abilities are not near Allison's. It would be more interesting if the top 3 included her instead of Kris. Thanks for reading and commenting.
I m just happy Adam is safe this week!Hope very much to see him in the finals and cause he was Alisons allianz may be he will catch a couple of votes from her fans now!I like Kris, hes a nice guy.No more,no less.Cant stand Danny, theres something wrong with him-I cant put the finger on it!Best finals would have been Adam and Alikson-of course with Adam being crowned..:)Hey Labelle - thanks for reading and commenting. I dunno...to me Adam seems a little strange...kind of sinister. I am pulling for Danny, but I think he will come in second.
Honestly for me there really isn't much of a point keep watching the show (even though i am going to ) because its pretty obvious Adam Lambert is going to win now...What is wrong with America? They become confused with what the competition was about. ITs about finding the best singer, not the prettiest face. But Allison has a pretty face too.But what went wrong?! Allison did better then DAnny and Chris too! ughhYeah, Anon, Adam will win, although he made a lot of people angry a couple weeks ago when he did a cover of a Brat Pack Song that is currently out there just like the current artist and didn't give a nod to that band. I'm pulling for Danny, but really was starting to believe the top two would be Adam and Allison. I was kind of sad to see her go. This year had GREAT singers, with the exception of Megan.
