American Idol Season 8 - A List of the Top 12, ..er, 13?

American Idol has become boring at times and needed a shot of...something. I almost can't blame them for keeping Tatiana and her drama til this week just to be sure to attract viewers since the last two weeks of singers has been rather ho-hum. Tonight, the live broadcast came with a twist. If you are one willing to admit you watch the show, tonight the recorder had to be on and if you watched it after the fact, you didn't get to see the end. Aren't you thankful for the Internet? This year the final 12 became the final 13. The last and unexpected 13 th spot was given to Anoop Desai.

Sometimes I am surprised at the selections of America and the judges opinions, but I think the selections this year, with one exception,  are the best of the contestants. I would have selected Danny Gokey's buddy to stay on and I think he would have made it to the final 12, um13. I was extremely glad Tatiana was sent packing. Sheesh she even adopted a Spanish accent for the evening. The judges suggested she has a future in acting.

The American Idol Season 8 Final 13 are: Kris Allen, 23; Megan Corkrey, 22; Anoop Desai, 21; Matt Giraud, 23: Danny Gokey, 28; Alexis Grace, 21; Allison Iraheta, 16; Adam Lambert, 26; Scott MacIntyre, 23; Jorge Nunez, 20; Lil Rounds, 23 and Michael Sarver, 27.

I have my favorites, of course, and living in Texas means I am cheering for Michael Sarver. I think Danny Gokey will be in the top 3 unless he has a bad week. From the beginning, I have loved Alexis Grace and Lil Rounds.

Do you agree with the selections? Have you selected your top 3, or even 2 yet? Who do you think will be the next American Idol?

My vote for the top three: Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, and Adam Lambert. The winner? Hey, I'm voting for my namesake!! :D

Thanks for your comment, Danny.  Adam just may surprise me - he has the look and good pipes.

Lorrie, I am a little disappointed with Anoop Desai after watching him tonight, I didn't think his song choice was that great, and his voice was faltering in a couple of places. I haven't chosen my final 3 yet, I am waiting for the next round, and then I will decide. I liked your article, and enjoyed the read. Thanks for sharing it, you friend in pen....and fan, ..........Gary.

I agree, Gary - and I thought he'd be gone this week.  I was surprised Jorge was let go.I am hoping Danny, Alexis and Michael will be the top 3.

The judges do partiality. I am singer myself and I have little knowledge about music. They are not good at times at all. I like Danny.

Thanks, Asmita, for reading and commenting.  I was amazed that Alexis was at the bottom last night.  I really thought she would be in the top 3.  Yeah, the judging is partial - judging is not an objective thing, though I cannot understand why any of them believe Megan can sing.  I thought she would be gone by now.  Anoop was great this week, but Danny is still my favorite.  Allison has some pipes, but time will tell.  And Adam...well - he is certainly different, but I LOVE how smoothly he sings.

Hi Linda.  Check out the show - you may be surprised at how good the singers are...except for one or two.  I think this is the best year, talent-wise, that I have seen.  I'm still pulling for Danny Gokey and was sad to see Alexis go last week.  She was one of my favorites.  Thanks for reading and commenting!
